Today's technique is demonstrated by our Art Director Lisa Strahl but all technique credit goes to Tim Holtz and is used with permission from Ranger Ink.
This simple technique can bring life to your old black and white photos, but can also recreate the look of old photos by stamping an image on glossy cardstock. The Thomas Kinkade Series images are perfect to recreate the look of an old photograph!

Supplies Needed:
Step One
Stamp image onto glossy cardstock with Stone Grey StazOn and cut out.
Step Two
Press the lid into the ink pad.
Step Three
Dip your Cut ‘n Dry Nib into the ink.
Step Four
Use Sunshine Yellow to color the windows in the house.

Step Five
Continue coloring the image as desired – Lettuce and Bottle for the trees.
Step Six
Use Sailboat Blue for the sky and a little Cranberry for the wreath. Don’t be afraid to apply the ink fairly dark!
Step Seven
Ink up your Cut ‘n Dry Foam with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Step Eight
Apply the ink to the image in a smooth, circular motion beginning OFF the card stock. Cover the entire image with a layer of ink.

Step Nine
The small tip can also be used to apply other mediums such as Liquid Pearls.
Step Ten
Once you have applied the Liquid Pearls you can use the nib to create texture in the Pearls.

Final Project
Finish your project!

Wow! I've often seen them in the store and admit... I hadn't a clue as to what they were for. Thanks for the tutorial and the inspiration!
