This week’s product spotlight is on tulle ribbon, a brand new product to the CHF store. It comes in 5 pages of fabulous colors and is very inexpensive for both single yards and entire spools. It’s made in the U.S.A., and it’s 6” wide! If you’re doing the math right now and thinking this is too big for 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” A2 size cards, think again. Tulle is a perfect cardmaking embellishment.
Even though we’re calling it ribbon there is no selvage/seam down the long ends like typical ribbon would have. Nothing frays when you cut it. Think of it as a piece of very sheer but also very durable fabric.
When I got my samples the first piece I reached for was the teal. I’m an 80’s girl, but the teal really added a 50’s flair to this card:
Bling Bling
For this next card I cut the pink tulle lengthwise right down the middle, turning the 6” wide ribbon into 3” wide ribbon. I cut slits in the face of the card to thread the ribbon through and tie a bow. Don’t be afraid to “bow wrestle” the tulle. It’s very durable. Pull the tails, rearrange the knot, puff the loops. If you still don’t like your bow untie it and start again. It bounces right back into shape, just like a tutu! My favorite feature of having a tulle bow on a card is that the tails can drape right over the image and sentiment and you can see right through it.
Little Baby Girl
Here is the white tulle, again cut lengthwise to make it 3” wide, and threaded through a tag:
Welcome Baby Dear
For this last card I made a flowery embellishment. I used a piece of the mint tulle approx 12” x 6”. Holding it at each long end I gave it a few twists, then tied it in a loose single knot and tucked the tails under the back. This tulle flower measures approx 2 1/2” across, but if you trim the tulle to 3” wide your flowers will be half that size.
Happy Birthday
I’ve had a lot of fun trying out this new product for this week’s spotlight, and it’s all on sale for the next week here in the CHF store.

lovely samples. I love the stuff it's so versatile
so far I've only seen and bought it by the meter ( and 1.20 wide ) and coloured my own with inkpads or glimmermist but eyeing up all the gorgeous colours the shop now has I see I need some more.
it's great in altered art pieces as well. _________________ http://www.scrappanic.blogspot.com |

Great info Laura and your examples look gorgeous - I love the pink bow on the baby card and you're right that the fact it's sheer is a real asset for something like that! _________________ Joanne x
