This technique is all about ink. Spray it, smash it, and make a mess... all in the name of creating a "rust" effect. And you can get that patina / rust effect without the benefit of time and weather!
Thanks for joining us this week!

Add a small amount of Blue Patina Perfect Pearls to a Mini Mister spray bottle with a craft stick or small scoop.

Add water to the the mid-point of the Mini Mister.
Step Three
Add about 3-4 drops of Broken China Distress reinker to the spray bottle.
Step Four
Smash your Cosmic Copper Brilliance ink on the non-stick craft mat.
Step Five
Spray the ink with water to create a beading effect.
Step Six
Place your cardstock on the ink.
Step Seven
Flip over the cardstock and spray directly with the Broken China - Blue Patina spray you created.

Oh yeah... I had a streak of blue patina shimmer over my chin for hours before someone pointed it out to me.
So much fun to mess with inks!
I think my next try will be with silver ink, maybe a bit of Tattered Rose Distress ink... it might look more like marble!
Thanks!

This looks fabulous and I bet it would look great with all kinds of combos too!
Holly, the PP Patina kit is worth having if you like vintage styles at all - patina blue, patina green, old gold and pewter and they last forever! I've been eyeing up the jewel tone ones and thinking maybe I should have those for brighter projects (I just have the metallics and the patina at the moment). _________________ Joanne x

Hee hee - what are you like?! Here in the UK it's generally easier to get PP in the kits rather than individual pots. You get four little pots, a detail brush, a large brush and a small cube pad of Perfect Medium (kind of like Versamark) in a pack. Not sure of your best source - one of the US gals is probably better placed to help! _________________ Joanne x

Well......... I just HAD to go shoppping at a local craft store, and I did find the Jewel Tones kit. No luck on the patina though. I'll be rooting around on the internet to see who might have these. Hee hee! The hunt begins. _________________ Holly

Maybe your local store could get it in for you Holly? If they're stocking Ranger products anyway they may just be able to put it on the next order they do. I guess you're in more of a rush than that, though huh? _________________ Joanne x

I made a mess and my fingers are still blue/green
is the perfect pearls supposed to give a glimmer shine?? may be I did not put enough in the bottle as I cannot detect it.
I used a linen card to do this technique on which gives it a nice effect.
Every time I use the freesia stamp I'm amazed how crisp the prints of it are. Such detail.
you can see my card here _________________ http://www.scrappanic.blogspot.com |

Off to the gallery in a moment to check it out but yes, the Perfect Pearls would usually give you a little bit of sheen, Ellen. It's quite subtle though so you usually need to move the card in order to get the full effect of the light playing over it rather than it being stationary, IYSWIM. _________________ Joanne x
