A good pigment ink is an essential in any stamper’s toolkit, don't you think? Tsukineko Brilliance ink comes in a great range of colours, including rich pearlescent and metallic shades and the Brilliance Dew Drop pads are the product spotlight from November 6th to 12th which means they’re on sale and even better value than ever!
Here’s what Tsukineko say about these little pads:
Designed for today's crafters and scrapbookers, the Brilliance Dew Drop™ inkpads feature enticing shades ranging from primary brights to pearlescent jewel tones and rich metallics. Compactly sized, with both a round end and an elongated tip, the versatile petite inkpads are colorful, collectible and free standing.
I’m not the maker though, I’m just a stamper so what do I think?
I love these little pads! It’s a great way to expand the range of colours you have on hand without getting too spendy or using up your precious storage space (because you need that for stamps, right?!).
Don’t be put off by the small size, there’s a lot of ink packed into that little pad and anything you can do with a full size Brilliance pad you can do with a Dew Drop, too! Inking up a big stamp like a Scrapblock might take a little longer but because it’s a pigment ink, it will stay wet on the stamp so you’ll still get a good impression.
There are advantages to the small size and drop shape, too. For the coffee gift card you’ll see if you click on the link, I wanted to stamp the cup but not the steam rising from it. It’s so easy to control exactly where the ink goes when you use the pointed end of the pad that I didn’t have to mask off the steam part of the stamp before inking up.
Because it’s pigment ink, you can do all the things you’d expect to be able to do like using it with embossing powder or mica powders like Perfect Pearls or Pearl Ex. But there’s more! Brilliance dries quickly and perfectly on vellum making it a great choice for techniques like “vintage vellum” where you want to flip your image over and colour on the back but you don’t want to wait too long!
I was so thrilled to find it really does dry on acetate and clear card sheet too! If you don’t like the idea of working with solvent-based products or you just get tired of having to ink up your opaque Stazon every time you use the pad, this could be the solution! It does take some time to dry fully (leave it a couple of hours to be sure) but you can speed it up by applying gentle heat with your heat gun (although be careful not to overheat or your acetate will warp).
Brilliance ink is just fine to use if you like to color with alcohol-based markers like Copics. Just leave it a few minutes after stamping or set it with a quick blast of your heat gun and you’re away.
Here are a few different ways I’ve used Brilliance Dew Drop inks:
Coffee Gift Card Holder – Brilliance and Copics
Snowflake Tag – on clear card sheet (including DTP for the frosted edges) and a detail shot here if you want a close up of the snowflake and the edges.
Fiery Floral Fairytale – inking up a scrapblock
Clocktower Brilliance – a detailed Kinkade on vellum and Perfect Pearls on the stamped sentiment, too.
Thanks for joining us for this week’s product spotlight, I hope you found out something new! _________________ Joanne x

| I ordered some of these for myself, I can't wait to try them! I love the white on acetate. Its so detailed. I like the look more than white staz-on. |

There's another plus on this - very easy to clean up any oopsies! Just wipe with a cloth (or a q-tip if it's a very small area) and stamp again. Stazon dries so quickly that you usually need to use alcohol to clean up any mistakes so this is much easier! _________________ Joanne x
