Happy Monday and happy new month everybody! All geared up for the onset of winter? (I don't think we have any antipodean members do we?)
Been busy here today - work this morning and then a hospital appointment this afternoon. Since it's a bit of a trek I made it more worthwhile by visiting IKEA on the way home. Got the computer chair I needed (DH broke the gas lift on mine last week somehow) and also a couple of bits for altering but didn't go mad on the little bits and pieces of storage etc as I'm sometimes tempted to do in there!
Had really high winds over the weekend and lots of rain on Sunday. We managed some garden clean up on Saturday though so it's all looking a bit better.
How was your weekend? _________________ Joanne x

I had to look up a new word today, thanks Joanne, lol!
We had a full weekend. I decided to start renovating our main bathroom. Really more of a face-lift, nothing structural. The mauve rose wall border up against the fishing themed shower curtain finally pushed me over the edge! We spent part of Saturday picking our paint and fixtures. I don't expect much progress this week since every night is busy but at we did manage to get the border down. I am all for small victories!
Yesterday we invited a family from church over for lunch and then my in-laws dropped by for a couple of hours. Add in a couple loads of laundry and the weekend was shot.
How is the marching band doing Kristine?? _________________ my blog: www.inky-doodles.blogspot.com |

I all...I've been lurking...but still really busy! In laws are still here until Thursday. They went to one of the Indian Casinos a couple of hours away for the day so at least I have the house to myself.
The bands new uniforms came in this week. They get replaced about every 10 years. Friday I took the day off work and helped get all the kids fitted into new uniforms in time for the football half time Friday night. They had a competition on Saturday. 13th out of 30...not too bad. It's open division competition which means our 90 member marching band competes against 200 member bands. The kids are having fun and thats what counts. Our school is hosting a marching festival for 35 bands on November 21st and I'm in charge of it so I am going to stay a lurker for a few more weeks as I work on scheduling volunteers, making the program, etc!
Hope everyone is doing well. Take care!!! _________________ ===========================

I had to do some research on that word myself, te he
Tracy your bathroom project sounds great. Move that bus!
Kristine, those kids must be so excited to replace 10 year old uniforms. Can't wait to hear how all of the competitions and other functions go. How fun!
My little guy was sick over the weekend. I took him to the doctor today. He had no fever, ears OK, chest OK. The doctor didn't have any h1n1 kits to check him for that, and did not recommend we go to the ER for a test because of all the germs you can pick up in the ER. I'm going to keep him home from his preschool tomorrow and just hope he doesn't pass whatever it is on to the rest of us. |

Hello ladies! It's been a while! But I confess, I do lurk to see how y'all are doing.
New band uniforms must be exciting after 10 years!
I am 39 weeks pregnant and just found lice on Sophie and I have been itching my head for the last few days too!!! So now we have mayonnaise on our heads wrapped in grocery bags to try a non-chemical approach. Yuck!
Swine flu is going around here like crazy too, so I've pulled the kids from school just until baby comes.
Congrats to Jen on the birth of her beautiful girl! We had lunch on the Friday before she gave birth and I have yet to see her again.
I hope you all are doing well and getting geared up for Christmas! I am so excited to start paper crafting with Christmas products. It's my favourite time of year. _________________ Lesley

I had to look up a new word today | Same here! LOL!
Great to hear from you Lesley 39 weeks - wow! You are now down to counting the hours. Hope all goes well & please make sure to let us know the good news when it happens.
New uniforms after 10 years! You are going to have some VERY smart band members there, Kristine.
Sounds like we had similar weather over the weekend Joanne. The wind did stop yesterday so that was good. We took our first bike ride in weeks & then also took a walk. After sitting at my desk most of Saturday I needed some exercise. Got to go to the chiropractor tomorrow as my back is BAD! Will also go see Michael in the afternoon.
Sorry your little guy is sick Laura. They've stopped testing for Swine Flu here as it is so rampant. And I agree, the ER is the last place you want to be with all those icky germs. Just stay home warm & cozy. How is he doing with preschool? Is he still enjoying it? Daniel is loving his books - he's now got words in them & is so proud of himself when he has read them all. Of course alot of it is from memory but I'm so glad that he wants to read. That is so much part of the battle.
Hah! Sounds like your bathroom really was in need of a fresh look Tracey - that was quite a picture you painted for us. Hope it will soon be done.
Take care, _________________ Liz

Glad to be of service with vocabulary expansion
Mauve roses and fish, huh? Maybe you could start a trend Tracy
New uniforms sound great Kristine - 10 years is a lot of punishment for them to take! Good luck with the upcoming contest, too!
Sorry to hear your little guy has been sick, Laura. If he's not running a temperature then it's unlikely to be H1N1 in any case. He probably just picked up a bug of some sort now he's started to mix with other kids more at preschool, I think it always happens until they build up a bit of immunity to each other! Hope he's better today.
I was just thinking when Jen posted her baby news that we hadn't heard from you Lesley! Hope the mayonnaise works (did you try tea tree oil, too?). Hope baby comes along quickly and easily for you!
It's lovely to hear that Daniel is enjoying his reading Liz - as you say, a lot will be from memory at the moment but that's a great starting point in any case, hopefully he can start to recognise patterns in what's familiar to him. Hope you find Michael in reasonable spirits and the chiro sorts your back out for you!
Full of busy here again today - just finished up those case studies I was writing though so that's one niggly job completely off my plate now, thank goodness! _________________ Joanne x

Oh Lesley...not what you want to deal with in your last week of pregnacy...washing bedding, sanitizing the house, and mayo on your head. It does paint a funny picture though...
Updating the bathroom Tracy...I need to do that. I think I'll have to wait till my daughter goes to college. The yellow ducky's drive me nuts and I want to "grow it up" but my daughter "loves the ducky's" and doesn't want it changed. Gives me a good excuse to put it off.
Sorry to here your boy is sick Laura. U agree...keep him home! Hope it passes quickly!
Joanne...I don't know how you do it...I don't have the patience to concentrate of proofing my kids essays for school...can't imagine doing what you do!
Hope your visit with Michael goes well LIz! _________________ ===========================

Hey all,
Yes sorry I forgot to mention the lice Lesley - but Kristine is right you did paint quite the picture there. What a thing to have to be dealing with right now. It's never a good time but now is even worse. YUK!
Been a good day. Yes thankfully I got my back sorted - it was in pretty bad shape so had to go see him before lunch & then go back after too. Got up to the jail at 2:30 & didn't see Michael until 4:45pm! BUT I did get to see his lawyer before hand. They are now changing tactics due to the one uncooperative judge & so are filing motions to take back Michael's guilty pleas on a misunderstanding clause. They will then rewrite the case in just one county so that all charges are filed together. Do I understand all the legalise? NO! But that is it in a nutshell. Of course that means that there will be no sentencing next week so they are also going to ask the prosecutor if she will let Michael out without posting bail as he has now been in there 5 weeks & that should be enough punishment for breaking his pre-sentencing. SO this mess will continue for quite some time & Michael will have to go through another treatment plan for his alcohol which obviously he needs as it never worked last time. That little stinker told me today that he never stopped drinking. Richard & I kept saying to each other, he looks like he is spaced out & on something but of course he was telling everyone he was clean. AAGH!
Catching up now on what has been happening here today. _________________ Liz

I'm glad you talked to the lawyer, and there is a new strategy to move the case forward. You are handling this a lot better than I think I would!
I took my little guy to his preschool today. Drop off was a little rough. I think he's caught on that this will be a regular thing. Went to Panera Bread with 2 of the other moms and as soon as I sat down with my bear claw the teacher called. Willie was crying and got himself worked up and threw up! I went straight back and they had cleaned him up. Since he had just been sick didn't want to take the chance of it being a stomach bug. I took him home and he was all smiles and munching away on my bear claw, totally fine now that he's not in school |

Oh laura! Poor fella, at least he doesn't appear to have a stomach bug. Transitions are hard but they do get easier with time. He'll probably start to settle in just in time for Thanksgiving vacation _________________ my blog: www.inky-doodles.blogspot.com |

Hope the lawyers can find what they need Liz. It sounds like they're working hard to get the best possible outcome - let's hope they succeed.
Awww, poor little guy, Laura. Hope he settles soon and figures out that he can have fun there, not just at home with you. Tracy's probably right - he'll get used to it just about the time he gets a vacation!
Just back from having curry with my friends up the road. They'd ordered papaya bhuna (amongst other things) which I'd never tried before - very nice! Kind of sweet and sour but not as aggressively sweet as Chinese things of that name tend to be. Now I just have to digest everything before bed time (~not as far off for me as for you guys!). _________________ Joanne x

Hey all! The in-laws left....love when they come...but love when they leave. I am just so busy and I feel like I am neglecting them. Won't see them again until New Years. Should be able to take some time off the paying job and spend some time with them.
Laura, hope your boy does better tomorrow!
Tracy, love the blog post at http://stampinsistersinchrist.blogspot.com/
Joanne, how nice that you got to go to lunch with friends!
Liz...hope it all works out for Michael...keeping positive thoughts!
Hoping to finally get some stamping time in tomorrow as I am taking the day off of work.
Have a great weekend! _________________ ===========================

| Quote: | | I'm glad you talked to the lawyer, and there is a new strategy to move the case forward. | Alas that all blew up in their faces! BUT the good news is Michael is out of jail! Had to go get him last night so he came for lunch today. He served 1 day under 6 weeks.
Monday morning he has asked us to go with him to the lawyer's as this is still quite a mess & so now the best we can hope for is a permanent felony on the lesser crime but that means the bigger crimes have to be sentenced first & right now they are the other way round & the prosecutors are now all mad too as one of them hadn't fully read all that was being charged or at least that is what it sounds like! Michael starts work again on Wednesday as he does not know yet if he will be in court on Tuesday. Michael should not have to serve any more jail time, hopefully.
Awww... Laura, so sorry about Willie. Had to laugh though 'cos it certainly doesn't take them long to figure things out & "work" the system. Kids are SMART. At least he didn't have a bug & I would have done the same thing as you especially with all the "muck" that is floating around right now.
Kristine, hope you get some time for some R&R this weekend.
Joanne - I am not a curry lover but glad you enjoyed yours. We have a new Chinese in Havre (20 miles away) & I went there last Tuesday when visiting Michael. It was pretty good.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Talk to you next week. _________________ Liz
