The holidays are creeping closer. Are you ready?
This technique couldn't be simpler... or faster! With all the activities leading up to the holidays, the last thing you need is a complicated project.
The Thomas Kinkade papers available exclusively from Cornish Heritage Farms are ideal for the quick card or gift. These ornaments are perfect to adorn your tree or as the ultimate tag on your gifts.
Grab a few simple supplies to make your own!
Basic Supplies
- Stamps
- Ink
- Cardstock or patterned paper
- Wire and beads
- Ribbon or cord
- Cellophane Tape
- Dies and Die-cutting machine or Punches
- Stickles or Glitter / Glue (optional)
|
Specific Supplies Used:
Stamps:
Christmas Expressions (Mona Lisa Moments) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink:
Tuxedo Black Memento ink by Tsukineko
Patterned Paper:
Victorian Christmas Thomas Kinkade Paper Pack by Cornish Heritage Farms
Other:
Nestabilities by Spellbinder - you can use punches in lieu of dies
Star Dust Stickles by Ranger
Wire and beads (craft store)
Silver Cord by May Arts
Strong adhesive (Sticky Strip or equivalent)
Scor-Pal or embossing stylus
|
|
Step One
Die-cut or punch out multiples of the same shape. Die-cut 4 from solid colored patterned paper and 1 of an image.
I opted to use 5 shapes for this ornament, so the image shape will lay open.
|
|
Step Two
Score each shape in the center and fold. The colored side will be in the inside of the fold (in a "V").
|
|
Step Three (optional)
Add Stickles or glue and glitter to the edges of your shapes. This is an optional step, but really adds to the sparkle on your tree!
Set aside to dry completely.
|
|
Step Four
Cut a thin strip of paper from a coordinating piece of patterned paper. My strip is 0.75" x 8" (1.9 cm x 20.3 cm).
Score in the middle.
Stamp your preferred sentiment on the strip on both sides of the score.
|
|
Step Five
Cut a small piece of wire and thread beads. Adhere to the center of one of the die-cuts with cellophane tape.
Tie a knot in a length of silver cord and adhere to the center of one of the shapes with cellophane tape.
|
|
Step Six
Using a strong adhesive on the die-cut shapes, carefully adhere half to the adjacent shape. Continue until all the pieces are adhered and close the ornament.
|
|
Step Seven
Add adhesive to the sentiment strip and adhere to the cord on the top of the ornament. Trim to the desired length.
|
|
Finished Project
Other fun things to consider:
Edge the ornament with sticky strip and microbeads.
Coat image with Crackle or Glossy Accents - or Rock Candy Distress paint.
Stamp a random small image on the solid colored cardstock to coordinate with the main image - which can also be stamped.
