My, hasn't this year gone fast?! Before you know it, the holidays will be upon us. To keep ahead of my ever-growing list during the holidays, I try to start creating gifts, holiday cards and decorations in October. Truth be told, I should be starting in January!
This week's technique is a quick and simple holiday ornament, perfect for your tree or as a wall hanging.
Grab your stamps and a few simple supplies to make your own! Thanks for joining us!
Basic Supplies
- Stamps
- Ink
- Cardstock
- Color media
- Cardboard or Chipboard frames
- Ribbon or Twill tape
- Dies and Die-cutting machine
- Paint
- Glitter and glue (optional)
- Clear embossing powder and heat gun (optional)
Specific Supplies Used:
Step One
Using scrap cardboard, align your dies to create a frame in whatever shape you'd like for your project.
At this step, if you have premade chipboard frames, you can jump to step two.
Step Two
Paint your frame and allow to dry.
Step Three (optional)
Paint an even layer of glue over the painted frame and add a layer of glitter.
Step Four
Stamp your image.
Step Five
Color your image.
This is an optional step. To protect the image for years to come (and once it's colored), cover the entire image with Versamark ink and add a layer of clear embossing powder. Heat to set.
Finished Project
Adhere your image to the back of your created frame. Add a loop of ribbon to make it possible to hang on your tree.
Alternate Project
Using a premade, painted frame, this ornament would make a perfect wall hanging.

Thanks for joining us! Please let us know if you create using this technique. We love to share in your success!

They'll go through about cereal packet weight, not much more. You can always glue a couple together if you want something more substantial though. _________________ Joanne x
